INTRODUCTION
ABBA gained worldwide attention when they won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Waterloo". It became a major hit reaching number one in the UK, Australia, Sweden, in fact most of Europe and number six in the USA, unheard of for a Eurovision song. Over the next decade the Swedish super group, comprising Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, went on to release a string of hit singles and albums worldwide and became one of the most successful groups in pop music history. In 1983 ABBA 'were resting' whilst Benny and Björn were writing the musical "Chess" with Tim Rice. Agnetha and Frida meanwhile pursued solo projects releasing several albums and a number of singles. The intention for ABBA to return never materialised and Benny and Björn continued composing and producing for other artists and writing musicals including "Chess", "Kristina" and "Mamma Mia!".
The early 1990s saw the great ABBA revival and members of ABBA credited the instigation of this phenomenon to Björn Again. The revival prompted the release of the "ABBA Gold Greatest Hits" album in 1992, which topped the charts worldwide and still sells well today. The inclusion of ABBA songs in the soundtracks of the hit Australian films "Muriel's Wedding" and "The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert" and more recently the musical "Mamma Mia", have resulted in ABBA's and Björn Again's popularity being at an all time high.
